Description: A popular cagebird due to its singing ability, the Oriental White-eye is a small bird that tends to move around in small flocks and is more often heard than seen due to its small size and its tendency to stay hidden high up in the canopies of trees. The Oriental White-eye has largely olive-yellow upperparts with a brighter yellow throat, a white belly and a distinctive white ring around each eye (hence its name). The presence of this bird is generally easy to ascertain once its soft chirping call is recognised and is relatively easy to spot in the low-growing Brazillian Ironwood (Caesalpinia ferrea) trees at the Town Plaza of the University Town.
